fMRI Assessments among Heroin Users

Assessment of Functional Pathways Associated with Recovery of Executive Functions Following Cognitive Executive Function Intervention and Methadone Maintenance

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of an fMRI paradigm in combination with a Cognitive Executive Function Intervention among 10 heroin users in inpatient methadone treatment. The central hypothesis of this study is that the Cognitive Executive Function Intervention will be associated with increases in neural plasticity in executive task associated brain regions, particularly in frontal cortical areas, facilitating transfer to everyday function.
