With the weather getting warmer and the popularity of NYC’s bike share growing, I am excited to discuss the “Helmet Use Among Bike Sharers” segment that Lehman College’s Dr. Danna Ethan discussed on Public Health Minute. Wearing a helmet can greatly reduce the severity of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from bicycle accidents. Dr. Danna Ethan states that only 11% of the 5,000 NYC riders observed wore a helmet. The streets of NYC are almost always busy; therefore, it is crucial for bike riders to take precaution. Safety first!
